We provide personalized support to member schools and cultivate the CAIS community.

The Connecticut Association of Independent Schools, founded in 1950, is a voluntary association of 90 non-profit independent schools serving over 32,000 students from all Connecticut towns and many other states and countries. CAIS is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, a Recognized Accrediting Association in the State of Connecticut, a member of the International Council Advancing Independent School Accreditation (ICAISA) and is affiliated with the National Association of Independent Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. CAIS is governed by an independent Board of Trustees and staffed by five employees and myriad volunteers. CAIS offers accreditation services to non-profit, independent schools in CT and brings professional development events to teachers, administrators, trustees, and students across the region.
