SPEAKERS
David Branson Managing Director, Talent Acquisition | KIPP NJ / KIPP Miami David Branson is an Oregon-born, Michigan-raised, former New Yorker, who currently lives in North Carolina with his family. He’s a proud Michigan Wolverine and is starting his 19th year working in public education. He began his career as a high school English teacher in East New York, Brooklyn, as a Teach For America corps member. He went on to work at a KIPP Rise Academy in Newark, NJ as a classroom teacher, grade team leader, and assistant principal before becoming the principal. After six years as a middle school principal, he became the founding principal of Newark Lab High School. From there, he served as a Director of Operations for four schools and then stepped into his current position as the Managing Director of Talent Acquisition. His team is currently responsible for hiring ~500 positions annually for schools and office staff in New Jersey and Florida. His team also supports dozens of teachers in achieving state certification each year. As a leader, his school staff and leadership teams have been known for strong, values-driven cultures and unwavering commitment to kids and their communities. That said, some of his most essential work and life experience comes from considering millions of “why” questions posed by his three sons. He’s excited to share, collaborate with, support, and learn from this group of leaders.
